Fox News Channel senior correspondent Alicia Acuna broke away from a live report on a shooting at a Denver high school when she saw her son—a student at the school—for the first time, pulling him into a hug. “Excuse me, my son just came up and I have not seen him,” Acuna said on America Reports. “I’m sorry. Forbes reports an emotional Acuna said she had been working on another story Wednesday morning when she started getting text messages from her son, who said police officers had interrupted an assembly and ordered the students to shelter in place. “I kept in contact with him over text because he had to stay silent.”
The shooting, which happened just before 10 a.m. in Denver, led to a citywide search for the gunman, who shot and wounded two teachers at the school before running from the building.
