Bloomberg Radio Breaks Out Into Music Formats

  • Bloomberg Radio adds New Classic Hip Hop Affiliate, Audacy New York’s 94.7 The Block
  • “Bloomberg Black Business Beat” Feature to Bring Black New Yorkers Daily Business and Money Stories

Bloomberg Radio and Key Networks, a next generation radio syndication company, announce that Bloomberg has reached an agreement with Audacy New York’s popular Classic Hip Hop station 94.7 The Block (WXBK-FM) to carry the specialty radio feature, Bloomberg Black Business Beat.

94.7 The Block, New York’s #1 for Throwbacks, debuted the 60-second weekday feature today, which delivers a daily look at the intersection of commerce and culture affecting Black American audiences in a fast-paced, compelling format. This marks Bloomberg’s breakout into music radio formats, with business and money stories of interest to Black Americans that complement and enhance the music programming they love.

The Bloomberg Black Business Beat is hosted by journalist Justin Milliner. Topics range from the latest trends in Black-owned businesses and profiles of Black entrepreneurs, to a continuing look at diversity in the workplace and an inside look at the business of entertainment. Bloomberg’s reporters are on the Black Business Beat and cover it all.

Michael Lysak, Head of Bloomberg Radio Syndication, said: "The Block is such an important part of the soundtrack of New York City. We are proud to be a part of it. Justin Milliner does a masterful job of sharing stories of vital importance to Black Americans, without The Block's music missing a beat. Here's to Audacy for recognizing that reports like this don't interrupt the programming - they enhance it."

Dennis Green, Chief Operating Officer, Key Networks, said: “The Bloomberg Black Business Report brings important content to the marketplace that focuses on the Black business community. The Bloomberg Black Business Beat delivers with a feature that works with any format and multiple audiences. Thank you to “The Block” in New York City for having the vision to bring this feature to its listeners and local advertisers. I hope others programming to this audience will follow suit and run this on their stations.”
