Joe Piscopo |
Red Apple Audio Networks has announced the national syndication of Sundays with Sinatra Hosted by Joe Piscopo, the famed comedian from SNL with a well-known love and affection for the Chairman of the Board and his music. The two-hour show is devoted exclusively to Sinatra’s hits and airs on 77 WABC Radio in New York City from 6 to 8pm Eastern. Sundays with Sinatra Hosted by Joe Piscopo is sanctioned by the Sinatra Family and has garnered great success on 77 WABC since its debut just over a year ago.
“You can’t get this anywhere else,” said John Catsimatidis, Owner of Red Apple Media, which includes the Red Apple Audio Networks and WABC Radio. “We broke away from the standard of 24/7 news and talk and put music on 77 WABC Saturday and Sunday nights. Listeners want a break. They want some fun. Why should they go somewhere else to get it. Our weekend numbers have skyrocketed.”
A highlight in Piscopo’s life took place when Sinatra referred to him as the Vice Chairman of the Board. “When he called me Vice Chairman of the Board, I almost fell over,” Piscopo said. “The joy I get from playing Sinatra’s songs on 77 WABC is immeasurable. Sinatra’s music is timeless. I’m excited about bringing Sundays with Sinatra to radio stations across America.”“Piscopo is perhaps Sinatra’s biggest fan, and his well-known imitation of ole’ blue is always respectful,” said Chad Lopez, President of Red Apple Media and 77 WABC. “Joe has a terrific voice, and it’s more like he's channeling Sinatra.”
More talent and programming from the network will be announced in the coming months. Red Apple Audio Networks’ programming is available to all stations on a barter basis and distributed live by satellite via Skyview XDS, as well as dedicated FTP.
