Google Home Mini Is Q2's Most Popular Smart Speaker

In the three months ending June 30, the Google Home Mini was the top-selling smart speaker, taking the crown from Amazon’s popular Echo Dot for the first time.

According to The NYPost, the pint-sized Home Mini — about the size of a muffin top — moved 2.3 million units during the quarter, according to research firm Strategy Analytics, good for 20 percent of the global smart speaker market.

The Dot, meanwhile, finished a close second, with 2.2 million sales.

Amazon’s larger, flagship Echo finished in third, moving 1.4 million units.

Together, the three accounted for half of all smart speakers sold during the quarter, the firm found.

Rounding out the top five were the Alibaba Tmall Genie and the Google Home, with 800,000 sales each.
