The Bob & Sheri Show will air its final Charlotte broadcast Friday, ending more than three decades on morning radio in the city where the program began in 1992.
Hosts declined their radio contract renewals and are leaving the traditional radio model, Sheri Lynch confirmed ahead of Monday’s new episode of The Bob & Sheri Oddcast.
Current radio affiliates have been given until the end of the year, but Charlotte listeners lose the show this Friday.
The program itself is not ending.
In the Oddcast, Lynch and longtime executive producer and business partner Tony Garcia described financial pressure on their independent company, including advertising revenue drops of 20 to 40 percent and pay cuts team members have taken since 2020.
They framed the problem as larger than radio: smartphones, streaming, podcasts and social media let audiences choose what to hear and when, while advertisers have far more options than when traditional radio and television dominated ad spending.
