SiriusXM Chief Operating Officer Wayne Thorsen is leaving the company less than two years after joining to help reshape it around technology, product development and operational efficiency.
The satellite radio company disclosed the departure Thursday while reporting second-quarter earnings, saying only that Thorsen had “decided to leave the company.” CEO Jennifer Witz briefly noted the move on the earnings call before shifting to financial results.

Thorsen joined in December 2024 as executive vice president and chief operating officer, a newly created role. He previously served as chief business officer at ADT and held senior positions at Google, SoFi, Microsoft and Viacom. He oversaw product and technology organizations, business development, corporate strategy, subscriber acquisition and key commercial activities.
At the time of his hiring, Witz said he would play a central role in executing SiriusXM’s revamped strategy of sharpening focus on its core subscription business while improving operating efficiency and returns on technology and marketing investments.
SiriusXM has not announced who will assume Thorsen’s responsibilities or whether it plans to fill the COO position.
