Radio personality Pebbles will leave Hot 96.9 after more than 13 years, with Friday, May 8, marking her final day on air.
The longtime co-anchor of the station’s “The GetUp Crew” morning show and host of the public affairs program “Voices with Pebbles,” is stepping away to focus on her weekly podcast and newsletter, “Positively Pebbles.”
The project is described as a platform “designed to lift your spirits, make you think, and help you to rediscover the beauty in everyday life.”
“I’m incredibly grateful for the years I’ve been able to spend connecting with our listeners every morning,” Pebbles said in the station’s announcement. “This next chapter allows me to put even more energy into ‘Positively Pebbles’ — a platform all about connection, sharing real stories, making a meaningful difference, and shining a light on the good in the world.”
On Monday’s edition of “The GetUp Crew,” founding member Michael Bivins called in to congratulate her. “To still have a job because people respect your voice is a powerful statement,” Bivins said. “I love you, and thank you for being there since I was, what, 13, 14? I’m 57. That’s a long ride.”
Pebbles began her radio career at Boston’s WILD 1090 AM, a Black-oriented station known for breaking new artists, including being the first to play New Edition’s “Candy Girl.” She later spent more than 15 years at JAM’N 94.5 before joining Beasley Media Group’s Hot 96.9.
Over her three-decade career, she has earned numerous honors, including the 2023 Broadcaster of the Year award from the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association, a Gracie Award in the Public Affairs-Local category, and induction into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2024.
