Conservative radio talk show host Larry Elder slammed California Governor Gavin Newsom as 'anti-science' for requiring masks despite widespread vaccination in the state.
Elder, who is among several Republican candidates vying to replace Newsom as governor in next month's special recall election, told supporters in Pacific Palisades over the weekend that he's making a run for the top job in Sacramento despite the difficult odds.
'If not you, who? If not now, when? So I'm in it to win it,' Elder told a crowd of supporters. 'Where do I start about the job this man, Gavin Newsom, has done in the last two years?' he says, listing a litany of policies that he believes were damaging to the state.
'He slams down the state of California in a way that is more severe than any of the other 49 governors.'
Elder, who is on leave from his Salen Radio Network syndicated radio show, accused Newsom of 'ignoring science' by reinstituting a mask mandate and COVID testing for state workers despite the mass vaccination efforts. Reopen California's Schools and another group called Let Them Breathe have sued over the mandate.
The CDC is recommending a mask mandate for kids because they cannot be vaccinated.
