L-A Radio: Kat Corbett EXITS KROQ-FM

Kat Corbett

Longtime KROQ 106.7 FM Personality Kat Corbett announced she’s officially quit the station, but “It’s all good,” she wrote in a post on her personal blog on Tuesday morning, reports dailynews.com.

Back in 2019, the raspy-voiced DJ revealed she’d be stepping away from hosting KROQ’s midday show, which followed “The Kevin & Bean” morning show, after nearly 15 years, but she’d stay on to host the station’s “Locals Only” program on Sunday evenings. She also continued her work with KROQ to the Rescue, which helped rescue dogs find homes.

“If you ever listened when I hosted middays, thank you,” she wrote in her blog post, along with posting photos of her with some of the artists she interviewed at KROQ including Bono, Billie Eilish, Chuck D, Robert Smith of The Cure and the late Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots. “It was truly an honor to follow ‘The Kevin & Bean Show’ all those years. Thanks to the record reps and managers who trusted me with artists in many delicate situations. I’ll still be bugging you of course, but for now, thank you for introducing me to my heroes.”

“I am eternally grateful for my long and crazy KROQ life,” she added, noting that she was already pretty much out before COVID-19 hit, but a few of her other endeavors fell through. Now, with the world beginning to reopen, she is pursuing other passions.

Corbett currently hosts a daily ’90s alternative and grunge show at 3 p.m. on SiriusXM’s Lithium channel and is also hosting LoopTV’s New Music Video live chats at 3 p.m. Fridays on the Loop app. She’s got her debut novel in the works and can also be heard on the “One Heat Minute” podcast on Patreon discussing movies like “Zodiac,” “Josie and the Pussycats” and “All the Presidents Men.”
