Chicago Radio: MeTV FM 87.7 To Air 'Hat Trick' Music Special

87.7 MeTV FM in Chicago, the popular music radio companion to the MeTV Television Network, will present “Timeless & Memorable Trifectas: Pop Hits That Made Three Charts at the Same Time” starting this Friday, June 12 at 7pm and airing all weekend through midnight on Sunday, June 14.

This specially curated event features a playlist of beloved pop songs that achieved the rare distinction of making three different charts in Billboard magazine simultaneously—the Pop chart along with two of the following charts:  Adult Contemporary, Country, Rhythm & Blues, Adult Top 40, and Mainstream Rock.

Fans of timeless hits are invited to listen in to this eclectic collection of songs that ranges from bona fide blockbusters (such as Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy,” a #1 song across the Pop, Adult Contemporary and Country charts in 1975) to instrumentals (Hugh Masekela’s “Grazing in the Grass,” a Pop, Adult Contemporary and R&B hit in 1968) to message/story songs (Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes’ “Wake Up Everybody,” a Pop, Adult Contemporary and R&B hit in 1975).

“Everybody knows what a one-hit wonder is,” said Rick O’Dell, MeTV FM Program Director. “We think it is a good time to put the MeTV FM spotlight on another special category, where you have one song being a hit on three different charts at the same time.  We can call these timeless trifectas the ultimate crossover songs.”
