Charlotte Radio: Chuck Thompson Named PD At Country WKKT

iHeartMedia/Charliotte  announced today that Chuck “DZL” Thompson has been named Program Director for WKKT 96.9 The Kat.

As Program Director, DZL will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the station’s music, on-air personalities, programming, promotions and digital operations. He will report to Chadwick “A.J.” Hausknecht, Region Senior Vice President for iHeartMedia’s Virginia-Carolina Region.

“DZL’s unique insight on the market, coupled with his talent, creativity and innovative style of thinking will ensure that the station continues to do great things in Charlotte,” said A.J. “Because of his vision and passion, I’m thrilled to have DZL lead our team at 96.9 The Kat.”

DZL is a seasoned media veteran and has been with iHeartMedia since 2002. He most recently served as the day-to-day Program Director for 106.5 The End, Charlotte’s Alternative Rock. Before returning to Charlotte in 2017, DZL managed programming for WRXL-FM in Richmond, Virginia. In addition, he has held several on-air and programming roles in various cities throughout his career including Atlanta, Georgia; Columbia, South Carolina; Rochester, New York; and Charlotte, North Carolina. He began his career at WZGC-FM in Atlanta, GA and attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.
