Memphis Radio: Sports WMFS Launching New Afternoon Show

Mark Giannotto
Commercial Appeal sports columnist Mark Giannotto will add a new title as the co-host of Entercom's WMFS 680 AM & 92.9 FM ESPN's 2-4 p.m. radio show, starting May 20.

Giannotto will host the show with Jeffrey Wright, who currently serves as an executive producer and host at the station. Both will replace Eric Hasseltine, who ended his seven-year run on April 26.

"I’m really excited about this opportunity to take my voice to the radio," Giannotto said. "I'm very appreciative of The Commercial Appeal because without their support and promotion, none of this would be possible."

The news continues Giannotto's swift rise since arriving in Memphis in January 2017. He covered Memphis Tigers basketball for a year and a half until he was promoted to columnist in July 2018.

Giannotto is no stranger to the station as he does a weekly spot on the "Jason & John" show each Wednesday to give his opinion on the Memphis sports scene.

"Mark’s content on the Tigers and the Grizzlies and his direct hits is why we hired him," said Brad Carson, program director for 92.9 FM ESPN. "We need somebody who’s not going to be wishy-washy and tell us the truth on what’s going on, report the news and then give an opinion and take on it.”
