Boston Radio: Howie Carr To Return To WRKO-AM

Howie Carr
One of the more public divorces in Boston media history turns out to have been just a trial separation.

Howie Carr and WRKO 680 AM / 93.7 FM HD-2 announced today that the legendary author, columnist and talk show host will return to the Entercom station on Monday, March 16. Carr will assume the weekday afternoon time slot he occupied on WRKO for decades, 3-7 p.m.

Entercom Boston’s VP / Market Manager Phil Zachary said he believes Carr’s return was meant to be. “As the holidays passed, it became obvious to me that WRKO and Howie belong together,” he said. “It’s that quirky relationship that everyone says will never last but ends up enduring longer than most because both partners enhance the other’s strengths and talents.” Carr’s last program on WRKO was Nov. 7, 2014.

Howie Carr stated, “I’m happy to return to WRKO. Not only does it offer a great signal with full market coverage and better programming, but it’s also the original home of my show.”

Carr began his radio talk career on WRKO in 1994 and it is now syndicated via his own Howie Carr Radio Network (HCRN) throughout the Northeast. The show is currently carried on some 20-stations in a six state area.
