John Catsimatidis, the owner of 77WABC and Red Apple Media, continues his public awareness campaign to ensure the passage of the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. On March 12, 2025, Catsimatidis published a full-page advertisement in the New York Post, advocating for the preservation of AM radio in vehicles.
The latest advertisement, co-featuring WABC President Chad Lopez, underscores the potential risks associated with automakers' decisions to eliminate AM radio from cars—a move that has garnered bipartisan concern.
Catsimatidis has been a steadfast supporter of maintaining AM radio in vehicles since the campaign’s inception. In April 2023, he recruited former Vice President Mike Pence to narrate a “Save AM Radio” initiative, where Pence described AM radio as “a vital gathering place for Americans” and an essential medium for the free exchange of information.
Lobbying efforts last week by state broadcast associations on Capitol Hill are yielding results, with growing bipartisan backing for the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. After meetings between broadcasters and legislators, numerous members of Congress have pledged support for the bill, highlighting AM radio’s importance for emergency alerts and its accessibility in rural areas.
