R.I.P.: PJ Maloney. Longtime Pittsburgh Radio/TV Reporter

PJ Maloney ('47-'24)
PJ Maloney, a fixture during two stints at former all-news radio station KQV-AM and a local TV reporter and weather forecaster, died Saturday.

Maloney, 77, of Shadyside, died of complications from leukemia, according to Pittsburgh Patch.

When listeners tuned in to KQV during its all-news existence from 1975 to 2018, they likely would hear Maloney delivering the latest stories.

Maloney also was familiar to Pittsburgh TV viewers, serving as a reporter and weatherman at WPXI-TV during the 1980s.

According to his Facebook profile, Maloney studied journalism at Marquette University and went to high school at St. Meinrad.

According to local broadcasting website PBRTV, Maloney also was an announcer at WQEX-TV and worked as an editor for a local regional newspaper chain. He also was an avid biycylist and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
