D/FW Radio: WBAP's Christmas Caring Raises $255K+

News Talk 820AM WBAP held the 42nd Annual Christmas is for Caring Radiothon from December 7-11, 2020, benefiting the Denton State Supported Living Center. In total, this year’s event raised $225,000 and counting.  The funds go towards buying Christmas gifts for the 500 residents at the Denton State Supported Living Center.

“This is a testament to the giving nature of our listeners to find it in their hearts in such a difficult year to donate to those that are in desperate need of the holiday spirit.  Big thank you to our passionate staff and those at the Denton State Supported Living Center for allowing us to be a part of such a wonderful mission,” says WBAP Program Director, Kevin Graham.

Stephanie Kithas, Chair, Volunteer Services Council for DSSLC, comments about this event, “Our world and our neighbors' worlds have been rocked by COVID, but your listeners' outpouring of support - even when they may have been struggling - has given us hope that tomorrow will be a better day for all of us, and particularly for the individuals living at Denton State Supported Living Center. I believe our success at the Volunteer Services Council's Christmas is for Caring fund-raiser points to the strength and the credibility of Neil Sperry, the wonderful team assembled at WBAP and Cumulus Broadcasting, and their caring and generous listeners.   We can think of no one better than Neil, Hal, Brian, Rick, Chris, and the behind-the-scenes personnel, to help improve the good work done at DSSLC. Thank you, and Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to one and all!"
