Enid OK Radio: KHRK Now Classic Rock, KWOF Goes Country

With Chisholm Trail Broadcasting’s two newest stations, KHRK 97.7 The Hawk and KWOF 106.3 The Wolf, Enid can boast of being home to its own classic rock and true country stations, according to enidnews.com.

Chisholm Trail Broadcasting General Manager Sandy Daniels said the new stations hit airwaves in December.

KHRK The Hawk, 97.7, features artists such as Journey, Led Zepplin, Tom Petty, Eagles, Foreigner, Boston, AC/DC, Billy Idol and Pink Floyd, just to name a few.

KWOF The Wolf, 106.3, features artists such as Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Clay Walker, Diamond Rio, Alabama and Johnny Cash.

Daniels said the staff at Chisholm Trail Broadcast brainstormed to come up with the station names. If it didn’t impress the staff it wasn’t going to make the cut. She said the reaction the past few months has been “great.”

“The response had been very positive,” she said. “We’re thrilled at how people are reacting to both of them.”

Daniels said she still is working on getting the word out about the new stations, but both already have significant fan bases. She said several fitness centers have been playing the Hawk.

She said the stations are still growing.

“We’re in the process of hiring on-air (talent) for the Wolf, and we’re in search of a good morning show,” she said. “I don’t want to rush because we want it to be good.”

Listeners may recognize the voice on The Hawk during their afternoon commute. Eagle Marketing Director Frank Baker has returned to the radio as host from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“We’re lucky to get Frank on board because that’s what I think of when I think about radio,” Daniels said. She said she used to listen to Baker on the radio when she first came to Enid.
