"ABC World News Tonight With David Muir" had the most viewers last week -- just 20,000 more than "NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt."
But NBC and Holt won the 25-to-54 age group that's most important to news advertisers, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
To the numbers:
In total viewers for the week: ABC with 7.761 million, NBC with 7.741 million and "CBS Evening News With Scott Pelley" with 6.614 million.
ABC has won in total viewers for six of the last eight weeks, and Muir is delivering the biggest audience for the telecast in nine years.
In the 25-to-54 age group, NBC with 1.957 million, ABC with 1.730 million and CBS with 1.587 million.
NBC has won the age group for 49 of the last 50 weeks. It won the 18-to-49 age group as well and has pulled off that feat 49 of the last 50 weeks, too.
In cable news, Fox News Channel placed first in all of cable last week in prime time as well as the total day.
In cable prime time, Fox News Channel averaged 2.456 million viewers. It ranked ahead of HGTV with 1.629 million, USA with 1.346 million, History with 1.297 million and TBS with 1.213 million. The Thursday edition of "The O'Reilly Factor" was the top show in all of cable with 4.2 million viewers.
As for the cable news competition, CNN averaged 922,000 viewers in prime time and ranked No. 11 among all cable channels. MSNBC averaged 850,000 and placed No. 13.
For the total day, Fox News averaged 1.503 million viewers. It placed ahead of Nickelodeon with 1.276 million and Cartoon Network with 1.004 million.
