John Cravens |
Last week, ESPN last began began the process of layiung-off up-to-350 employees nationwide, or approximately 4% of its employees.
While most of the layoffs were expected to hit the production department on the TV side, the firings caught up to the WMVP 1000 AM ESPN Radio this week.
Forced out was John Cravens, the Vice President and General Manager. He had been with the station since December 2005, when he was hired as General Sales Manager. He was promoted to VP/GM in 2009 and in November 2013, was given the added duties of Vice President of Local Revenue for all of ESPN Radio. Cravens, was previously VP/GM for the aBC stations in Detroit from 1987-98. and was previously named one of Radio Ink magazine's "Best Managers in America."
And it appears cuts may not be quite finished WMVP-AM/ESPN 1000. While on-air talent may not be affected, some off-air staffers me be fired.
