Greater Media’s WRAT-FM, Point Pleasant, NJ, took top honors in two categories
during a special awards luncheon that took place on Wednesday, June 19th at the
66th Annual New Jersey Broadcasters Conference at Caesars in Atlantic City , New Jersey .
The station won the Best News 2012 Award for its “Superstorm
Sandy Community Coverage”. In addition, Scott Edwards and WRAT-FM team received
the Best Commercial 2012 Award for the station’s “E Street Bagels” submission.
“I am so very proud of Dan Finn, Carl Craft, Scott Edwards
and the entire WRAT-FM team for receiving these coveted awards,” said Greater
Media Chairman and Chief Executive officer Peter Smyth. “They are a shining
example of what radio does to help the communities it serves during challenging
times. I am so very proud to have them in our Greater Media family.”
In addition, the late and former WCTC-AM & WMGQ-FM Vice President and General Manager Anthony (aka Tony) V. Marano was inducted into the 2013 NJBA Hall of Fame at the event. Greater Media Chairman and CEO Peter Smyth reflected on the tremendous legacy and countless contributions that Marano made to Greater Media and the community throughout his distinguished career. Smyth presented the distinguished award to his two sons, Tommy and Tony Jr. on stage during the luncheon.
