Fresno Radio: KMJ Raises $400K+ For Food Bank

Cumulus Media Fresno’s NewsTalk 580/105.9 KMJ recently teamed with local agriculture company Gar Inc. for the 2026 Annual Feeding Families Fund Drive, to raise funds for the Central California Food Bank - and WOW did KMJ listeners respond!

During a day-long broadcast on September 18th at The Market, KMJ listeners came through with amazing generosity, donating nearly $300,000. Fresno Madera Farm Credit/CoBank chipped in an additional $30,000 while Gar Inc. added a whopping $100,000 - bringing the total raised for the Central California Food Bank to $428,492. That equates to more than 1.7 million meals for the less fortunate in California’s San Joaquin Valley.

Chanel Ruiz-Mendez, Director of Development, the Central California Food Bank, said: “We are so grateful.  Prices are up and it’s hard to make ends meet for hard working families today. Thanks to this effort they can come in and get a couple of weeks’ worth of food, fresh produce, nutritious food that’s going to make all the difference.”

Patty Hixson, Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus Fresno, commented: “Our community overwhelms me with its graciousness, and we are most grateful to the Gar team, who step up every year to assist us in continuing to care for our neighbors in need. It is such a blessing to have these incredible partners!”

Karen Musson, CEO, Gar Inc., remarked: “A huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone that joined us at The Market and to our sponsors: Fresno Madera Farm Credit, CoBank, KMJ and The Market. It was wonderful to see so many supporters share their generosity and give hope to our valley families.”
