Edison Research: Here Are The Most-Used Sources For Podcasts

YouTube remains the platform U.S. weekly podcast consumers use most often, according to Edison Research’s Q3 2026 Podcast Metrics from SSRS.

The latest findings show YouTube with the largest share of weekly podcast consumers who name it as their primary place to listen to or watch podcasts. Edison said the growth of podcast content on YouTube has reshaped the ecosystem as the video platform continues to gain ground as a destination for podcast consumption.

Spotify ranks second, cited by 17% of weekly podcast consumers as the platform they use most often. Apple Podcasts is third at 9%, still ahead of many other services but holding a smaller share than in the past.

Netflix is also emerging as a podcast destination. The streaming service ranks seventh, with 3% of U.S. weekly podcast consumers saying it is the platform they use most often. Edison noted that figure covers only those who identify Netflix as their primary podcast platform and does not capture all podcast listening or viewing on the service.

The results point to ongoing shifts in how audiences reach podcast content, with individual platforms gaining and losing share over time. Edison Podcast Metrics tracks listening and viewing among U.S. weekly podcast consumers, with platform data updated for subscribers each quarter.
