WWNN Expands into Europe with German Distribution Deal

Worldwide News Network (WWNN), the English-language radio news service launched in the United States on May 23, has entered its first European market through a distribution partnership with BLR, Germany’s leading radio news and content syndicator.

Through BLR’s network, WWNN’s top- and bottom-of-the-hour newscasts and breaking news alerts are now available to broadcasters across Germany.

The move marks an early step in WWNN’s goal of building a global radio news brand, just two months after its U.S. debut. “Audiences around the globe deserve the facts about what is going on in our world and that is why we created the Worldwide News Network,” said John Catsimatidis, CEO of Red Apple Media, WWNN’s parent company.

“We’re delighted to partner with BLR and look forward to working with them as we continue to expand our reach into more European markets and around the world.”

Lee Harris, Senior Vice President of News and Programming for WWNN, added: “Expanding beyond the U.S. is an important milestone. We’re excited to partner with BLR to bring an authentic American perspective on world events.”

BLR CEO and Program Director Sebastian Steinmayr said the partnership makes sense given strong U.S.-German ties and the presence of large American military communities in Germany, including Ramstein Air Base.

“Many Americans have lived in Germany for years and listen to local radio every day,” he noted. “We believe they’ll appreciate having access to news from their home country.”

The technical distribution is handled by Radio.Cloud, the cloud-native platform used by both organizations, enabling seamless production and delivery of content across borders.
