NYC Radio: WFAN to Launch on SiriusXM Sept. 1

WFAN and 41 other Audacy sports, news and talk stations will become available on SiriusXM starting Sept. 1 under a new partnership between the companies.

The deal, announced Tuesday, brings 42 Audacy stations from 29 markets to the satellite radio service, which has about 30 million subscribers. WFAN’s popular shows featuring hosts such as Craig Carton and Boomer Esiason will be carried on SiriusXM, the current home of former WFAN personality Chris “Mad Dog” Russo. New York’s all-news station 1010 WINS will also be available.

Twenty-three Audacy sports stations, including WFAN, will launch on SiriusXM on Sept. 1. The remaining 19 news and talk stations will join later this year.

Carton called the expansion “an exciting development,” telling Newsday in a text message that New York fans and listeners nationwide will now be able to hear WFAN “literally everywhere,” especially useful during drives.

“SiriusXM is the essential audio home for sports fans, offering access to every team and game alongside an unmatched lineup of national sports talk, expert analysis, and the biggest voices in sports,” Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM’s president and chief content officer, said in a statement. 

“By adding Audacy's extensive lineup of sports stations, we're making those trusted hometown voices available to fans wherever they are across North America.”

Audacy CEO and president Kelli Turner added: “Audacy’s sports brands are deeply connected to the cities, teams and fan communities they serve, and being able to extend our reach nationally through SiriusXM is a natural fit. Starting September 1, the following Audacy sports stations will be available to SiriusXM listeners in their vehicles and on the SiriusXM app:

Starting September 1, the following Audacy sports stations will be available on the SiriusXM app and in the growing number of vehicles on the road with the latest generation SiriusXM with 360L radios:

The Audacy sports stations will be available to the majority of SiriusXM subscribers through its most popular subscription plans, including Platinum, All Access, Music & Entertainment, and other options. The additional Audacy news and talk stations will become available through eligible SiriusXM plans when they join the lineup later this year.
