R.I.P.: Nicole Barrett, D/FW Area Talk Show Host

Talk show host, businesswoman and former Miss Black Texas Nicole Barrett died Aug. 10 at the age of 46 after suffering an aneurysm, reports The Dallas Morning News.

A popular media personality, Barrett reported for Elite News in Dallas and hosted “The Nicole Barrett Show” on KLIF 570 AM.

Barrett’s attention to detail and probing interviews propelled the show to television in 2014 on KTXD-TV (Channel 47). She interviewed many icons, including actors Diahann Carroll, Larry Hagman and Debbie Reynolds.

Her latest achievement was becoming the first Black woman to own a cigar company, Kinky Friedman Cigars. The Texas singer and one-time gubernatorial candidate remained the face of the brand, with Barrett introducing a new product line as CEO.
