IBA, Vipology Respond to Massive Talent Terminations

The Independent Broadcasters Association (IBA) in partnership with Vipology announced Thursday that the IBA has created a rapid response opportunity for members of the radio community losing their positions.

Ron Stone, President and Executive Director of the IBA, said, “We have been watching the trades for the past two weeks and have been heartbroken by the massive terminations announced daily in the trades in so many markets around the country. We are living in the most challenging economic times since the great depression 100 years ago, literally since radio began. To see so many broadcast professionals terminated during the worst of times is hard to digest. We shifted gears on our own website development, built and managed by Vipology, to provide opportunities for those impacted to ‘meet up’ with potential broadcasters that may either be searching for new talent or perhaps be interested in engaging these folks for tracking positions. We just cannot sit by and watch the continuation of more and more terminations without offering help. We are all in this together, and that includes keeping people employed so they can feed their families.”

The link for the “Talent Available” page went live Friday morning. It is very easy to enroll, and there is no cost for the service. The IBA will be sending notice to members and non-members of the IBA about this. Stone added, “Normally everything we do is for members of the IBA only. But this is a situation where our brothers and sisters in radio need everyone’s help…and the IBA is going to do everything possible to help them.”

Chris Peaslee, CEO of Vipology added “We are so happy to be partners with the IBA and launching a website designed to help every independent operator in so many ways. When Ron asked us to drop what we were working on and add the “Talent Available” section, we felt compelled to help. We have worked with many of these great talented people and are personal friends with many of them. To see them terminated during tough times is hard to take. We hope we can help as many of them as possible find new homes with independent broadcasters”.

The IBA serves independent radio stations. Our goal is to provide independent operators with ways to drive new revenue and achieve cost benefits from scale that cannot be achieved alone. We are working together to improve operating results for all! You can join the IBA at www.iba.media. The association now has 1,300 members.
