Springfield IL Radio: Brian Pierce Sets Retirement

Brian Pierce
Mid-West Family Broadcasting has announced that veteran morning radio host Brian Pierce (Cozadd) is hanging up the headphones after 45 years.

His last day will be Friday, July 26 with his final morning show on Country WUSW 92.7 FM and his final talk show (10am-12pm) on WMAY 970 AM  / 94.7 FM, in Springfield, IL.

Brian's dream to be "the voice on the radio" started with a pirate station in his parent's house in Springfield, IL at age 15. From there he got his first job on his hometown CHR WCVS.

The next 45 years took him from his hometown station to WOAI, KAJA, KLLS, KSMG in San Antonio; WEZB and WDSU-TV in New Orleans; WZOU in Boston; KLUV & ABC Satellite Music Network in Dallas; to doing a team show with his wife (Kellie Michaels) for 25 years on Springfield, IL on AC WNNS and Country KFDI in Wichita. He returned to Springfield in 2015, where he has been doing mornings on Country WUSW and accomplished a goal of hosting a political talk show on WMAY.

"I couldn't imagine doing anything else for a living. And I've been fortunate that I've been able to do what I love across the country and back here in my hometown. But now it's time to stop getting up at 2:30 in the morning," said Pierce.
