Beasley Media Group has announces WMMR 93.3 FM’s Preston & Steve Show presented the 14th annual I Bleed For Preston & Steve Blood Drive to benefit The American Red Cross Penn-Jersey Blood Services Region.
The event took place on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.
93.3 WMMR-FM listeners showed up to help save lives, donating a record 1,443 productive units of blood. The event marked the largest Red Cross blood drive of its type in the nation, eclipsing a mark set last year. The annual I bleed For Preston & Steve Blood Drive’s 14-year total (year to date) for the single day-single collection is 16,410 pints of blood.
“I Bleed for Preston & Steve is one of the most highly-anticipated blood drives in our region for our donors, volunteers and staff, alike,” said Alana Mauger, communications manager at the American Red Cross, Penn Jersey Blood Services Region. “The blood we collected at this year’s drive alone will help up to 4,329 patients battle illness and injury. Many thanks to the entire WMMR team for their commitment to serve the Greater Philadelphia community. Together, we’re literally helping save lives.”
“Our morning show and the station’s incredibly generous listeners never cease to amaze me,” said WMMR-FM Program Director Bill Weston. “Preston and Steve just returned from D.C. after being recognized at the 2019 NAB’s Service to America Awards for their annual Food Drive and four days later, presented such an important, life-saving event.”
Donors were treated to new Preston & Steve T-shirts and I Bleed For Preston & Steve pint glasses, compliments of Window Nation. In addition, hundreds of donors received summer concert tickets from Live Nation.
Free treats were provided by Rita’s Water Ice and Bob Evans Restaurants and kids activities were provided on-site courtesy of Paint-a-Treasure Paint-N-Take Art Studio from Haddon Heights, NJ and Aim High Studio from Fairview Village, PA.
