Carson Daly Stepping Away From NBC Show
NBC announced Tuesday that the longtime host of "Last Call with Carson Daly" will exit the late-night show after 17 years later this year, although a final date has not yet been announced.
USAToday reports the move comes as Daly, 45, seeks to focus more on his family, as well as his hosting duties on both NBC's "The Voice" in prime time and the Orange Room on "Today" in the mornings. He also has a few new projects in the works with Golf Channel, although did not share specifics in a statement released Tuesday.
"I'm very excited to fulfill other areas I'm passionate about within our company," Daly said. "I could have all the jobs in the world, but none of them are more important to me than that of Dad. My family will always remain my top priority and greatest gig."
When he leaves, "Last Call," an interview talk show, will have aired more than 2,000 episodes since its premiere in 2002. It is unclear whether NBC will find another host for "Last Call," or a new half-hour show to fill the 1:30 a.m. EST/PST time slot, following Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" and Seth Meyers' "Late Night."
