Country Singer Wins Season 15 Of 'The Voice'

Chevel Shepherd
Chevel Shepherd, the 16-year-old singer who has become known for her classic honky-tonk sound and yodeling talents, was crowned the winner of Season 15 of The Voice last night.

Shepherd’s win marks the second victory in a row for two-time coach Kelly Clarkson, who won last season with her contestant Brynn Cartelli. Shepherd beat out Team Blake Shelton’s Kirk Jay and Chris Kroeze, and Team Jennifer Hudson’s Kennedy Holmes. Adam Levine had no artists left on his team.

While it was Clarkson’s second win, she seemed shocked as Shepherd when host Carson Daly announced she was the winner over runner-up Kroeze.

The top four on The Voice took the stage Monday night for part one of the finals, with a record contract on the line. They all performed three times. Each artist performed a cover song, a duet with his or her coach, and an original song.

Rascal Flatts, Panic! at the Disco, Dan + Shay, Dierks Bentley, Halsey, John Legend, Esperanza Spalding, Kelly Rowland, The Doobie Brothers, Marshmello and Bastille, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson, and Cartelli, all performed last night.

Kroeze, a fan-favorite throughout the season with huge overnight downloads, came in second place. Country singer Jay came in third. Holmes, the powerhouse R&B vocalist from St. Louis, in fourth place. Holmes, who turned 14 just over a week ago, is the youngest finalist ever on the show.
