L-A Radio: KLOS Raises $725K+ For St. Jude Hospital

Cumulus Media announces that its Los Angeles Rock radio station, KLOS 95.5 FM , led by Frosty, Heidi & Frank in the morning, Marci Wiser and Steve Jones (Jonesy’s Jukebox) in middays, and Gary Moore in afternoon drive, raised $725,218 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the St. Jude Rocks event held Thursday, February 8, through Friday, February 9, 2018.

The two-day live broadcast in Los Angeles capped Cumulus Media’s inaugural “St. Jude Rocks” fundraising partnership across 14 of its Rock-formatted stations in markets across the U.S. The 95.5 KLOS event included on-air, online and text-to-donate promotions and drove donations from listeners in Southern California that set a U.S. Rock radio fundraising record for St. Jude. The funds generated by the 95.5 KLOS St. Jude Rocks Radiothon brought the total dollars raised by Cumulus Media radio stations for St. Jude in 2017-2018 to a record-breaking $2,099,518.

St. Jude and Cumulus have enjoyed a longstanding partnership, generating more than  $22 million over the years to treat St. Jude patients by relying on the power of radio, its personalities and the generosity of local listeners. Like this year’s successful St. Jude Rocks initiative, many times in past years Cumulus stations have come together to support St. Jude patients and families who never receive a bill from St. Jude for the cost of treatment, travel, housing or food.

Dawn Girocco, Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus Media-Los Angeles, said: “We thank our big-hearted and generous listeners, customers, and team members who stepped up to make a difference for children all over the world who suffer from life-threatening illnesses. Cumulus Media-Los Angeles and 95.5 KLOS is proud to raise awareness and bring people together for such a great cause.”
