Kelly: Trump Came On "Like A Dog With A Bone"

Megyn Kelly
Megyn Kelly said covering Donald Trump during the 2016 election cycle was "a test" and described Trump as coming after her "like a dog with a bone."

"It definitely posed challenges when he was coming at me so relentlessly and causing security issues in my life and the life of my family, but I did it," Kelly, 45, said today on ABC's "Good Morning America." "It was a test of me as a person and a professional."

Now President-elect Trump criticized Kelly after she questioned him about calling women "fat pigs" and "slobs" during the first primary debate. He later drew fire for saying about Kelly that there was "blood coming out of her wherever" (which he later clarified to be her nose).

Kelly, the host of Fox's "The Kelly File," said Trump can be "vindictive" and said there is "no question" he is "thin-skinned" and "can be mean-spirited."

Kelly met with him in Trump Tower amid the campaign and said that proved a turning point in their professional relationship.

Kelly writes about Trump and her former boss, Roger Ailes, in hew newly released memoir, "Settle for More."

The host of Fox News' "The Kelly File" alleges that she too was subject to Ailes' advances, according to Radar Online, which has published what it claims are excerpts of Kelly's upcoming memoir "Settle For More."

The book is being released today.

It's a very personal book, it’s revealing, it’s been under an embargo and basically they would have to hurt you if you found it," Kelly said on her show.

According to an excerpt, Ailes, 76, began harassing Kelly, 45, during the summer of 2005.

"I would be called into Roger’s office, he would shut the door," reads the Radar Online excerpt. "He would engage in a kind of cat-and-mouse game with me ... veering between obviously inappropriate sexually charged comments…and legitimate professional advice."

Kelly reportedly writes in "Settle For More" that she rejected "every single one" of Ailes' "physical advances," including one instance when Ailes "crossed a new line ... trying to grab me repeatedly and kiss me on the lips."

The married mother-of-three reportedly writes about her fear of speaking up about the alleged harassment. "Crossing him was a major risk,” she reportedly writes, "but what if -- God forbid -- he was still doing it to someone?”

Ailes has repeatedly denied allegations of sexual harassment.
