San Jose Radio: Indian Music Replaces Country On 92.3 FM

Cumulus Media has changed its mind on acquiring KSJO in San Jose.

The company has decided not to buy KSJO 92.3 FM, so its NashFM format has been taken off the  Class B FM. NashFM personalities and music are still heard on the station website, as of Wednesday morning.

Cumulus was operating the station under a local marketing agreement with owner Principle Broadcasting Network. A Cumulus spokesperson stated, “Cumulus Media has chosen not to exercise its option to buy KSJO-FM in San Jose, CA and, as a result, will be shutting off our KSJO broadcast signal on March 1, 2016, when the station's operation returns to its owner, Universal Media.”

CMG began operating the station in 2014, but “has since concluded that it did not fit strategically based on Cumulus' existing geographic footprint in the region. This decision has no impact on Cumulus' commitment to its Nash brand nationally.”

InsideRadio reports Universal Media Access—which brokered the station prior to Cumulus—has reportedly flipped the station to “Bolly 92.3, The Bay Area’s Bollywood Station,” playing Indian music. A website exists at Bolly923FM.com.
