Conway’s career started in the late 1930s in Milwaukee radio. He moved to Chicago in the early ‘40s. He worked at both WBBM radio and TV. On December 7, 1941, Conway broadcast the news of the attack on Pearl Harbor on WBBM-AM. He would go on to serve as a naval aviator in World War II.
In addition to hosting morning drive on WBBM-AM, he also hosted a musical variety show “In Town Tonight” CBS 2 in the 1950s. Conway also hosted TV shows on WMAQ, WLS and WGN.
According to the Museum of Broadcast Communications, a private service is being planned at a later date, according to CBS Local.
