NYC Radio: WQHT Gig Is 'Dream Come True' for Nessa

Nessa
The newest WQHT 97.1 FM /Hot97 personality, Nessa, last week discussed getting her dream job and joining the station’s new roster. The former San Francisco KYLD 94.9 FM host joined the top hip-hop and R&B station a week ago, and slid into the timeslot previously held by Angie Martinez.

Nessa admitted that her new gig is a dream come true. “I am so happy to be at Hot 97, doing afternoons,” she told HipHopDX. “This is a dream come true, I mean this is it. Think of Michael Jordan, that’s like Hot 97 times a gazillion. This is where you want to be. For me, as a woman doing P.M. drive is everything.”

The station conducted an extensive search for the right person to fill Angie’s shoes, and Nessa appears to be a good fit, according to axs.com.  She was heard in more than 25 markets, including L.A. and Chicago, as a host on the night show at KYLD, and is also well-versed in the television arena. The seasoned TV personality hosted “Girl Code,” “The Real World Ex-Plosion After Show,” and other programs on MTV and MTV2, and may be a familiar face to many in the New York market and across the country.

Easing Nessa into her new position is veteran HOT 97 personality DJ Enuff, as Cipha Sounds separated from the station on Jan. 27. A day prior, Cipha voiced his frustrations over Nessa’s hiring on his “Juan Epstein” podcast with fellow HOT 97 personality Peter Rosenberg.
