Will Marotti |
The pastor of Meriden’s New Life Church, who returned as host of the CBS radio afternoon program slot in the wake of buddy and former governor John Rowland’s resignation from the station last April, has stepped down from the show.
Marotti’s last day was Wednesday, according to the Harford Courant.
WTIC sports commentator and on-air personality Joe D’Ambrosio will be taking over the program for an interim period effective Monday.
“Pastor Will had church and family obligations and had done a good job filling in,” said operations manager Steve Salhaney who oversees the four CBS Radio Hartford stations including WTIC. “The plan in the spring was Pastor Will would just be filling in on a temporary basis.”
Marotti and Rowland teamed up in 2010 with their prime time 3 to 6 p.m. talk show “State and Church.” Marotti bowed out of the show in 2012 because of church and family obligations, occasionally coming on as a guest of filling in as needed.
But when Rowland was accused in a campaign finance scheme and left the station in April, Marotti returned as the temporary host.
Rowland, who was eventually convicted, is now awaiting sentencing.
