Report: Tensions On GMA Set

Al Roker, Sam Champion
The set of “Good Morning America” has been icier than the polar vortex, one well-placed insider tells Confidenti@l at the NYDaily News.

Since beach-loving Sam Champion left the network for warmer climates, a closer location to his hot Brazilian hubby, and a major money deal with the NBC co-owned Weather Channel, the hosts of “GMA” have been bickering like a dysfunctional family at Christmas.

“Sam was the glue that kept team A [how network honchos refer to hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos] and team B [Lara Spencer and Josh Elliott] working happily together,” says our snitch. “When the cameras stop rolling, there isn’t a lot of warmth between the two groups.”

Also brewing beneath the surface is the fact that Roberts has a giant contract with ABC, which we’re told is a whopping $20 million a year for the next two years. Spencer and Elliott resent getting paid much less, says our source.
