Jacobs Media's Techsurvey 2027 Launches in January

Jacobs Media announced today that registration is now open for commercial radio stations in the U.S. and Canada to participate in Techsurvey 2027.

The 2026 survey was fielded this past January and February with more than 500 participating radio stations across North America. Nine different formats were represented among a diverse group of broadcasting companies, yielding nearly 31,000 respondents to radio’s largest research survey devoted to media and technology.

Past Techsurveys have enabled Jacobs Media to identify key digital trends, including awareness and usage of AI, smart speakers and the rise of voice technologies, on-demand audio and video entertainment options like podcasts and short-form videos, as well as the surge in YouTube usage.

In Techsurvey 2027, the Jacobs Media team will deliver fresh data for eight to ten qualifying radio formats (music + spoken word), especially useful for stations and companies to better understand how their brands are similar or different than the national norms.

This year’s study will continue to trend on key variables: media device ownership and media usage, including on-demand media, push notifications, online newsletters, YouTube usage and short-form videos—by age and generations, by gender, and ethnicity.

In addition, Techsurvey 2027 will update work-from-home and commuting habits now that COVID is seven years in the rearview mirror. TS 2027 will also explore the first and last devices/media respondents use to start/end their days. This year's study will also measure the role of AI in content and news discovery, whether the absence of an AM/FM radio in new car dashboards is a deal-breaker, and interest in folding smartphones.

Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs noted, “We are excited to launch our 23rd Techsurvey which will field in January and February 2027. For more than two decades, Techsurvey has been the largest and most important survey in commercial radio. In this year's survey, we will have updated trending information to track broadcast radio's digital progress, and we'll map out the most effective ways stations and their companies can optimize 'meeting the audience where they are.' Last year, more than 500 stations signed up as 'stakeholders.' Please join us for this year's study.”

This new study will field beginning in January. Stations have until Friday, December 18th to sign up. All information about timetables, fees, logistics, and registration are here: https://jacobsmedia.com/register-techsurvey-2027/
