Hearing Date Set For FCC Nominee Danielle Thumann
The Senate Commerce Committee will hold a Nov. 10 hearing on President Donald Trump’s nomination of Republican Danielle Thumann Severs to the Federal Communications Commission. The hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. EST in Room SR-253 and will be livestreamed. Three other nominations will also be considered.
Thumann Severs, a former legal adviser to then-Commissioner Brendan Carr, was nominated in August. If confirmed, she would become the FCC’s fourth commissioner, giving Republicans a 3–1 majority.
The committee’s announcement, made Tuesday, follows a request from House Democrats last week urging Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) to pair Thumann Severs’ hearing with consideration of Gomez’s renomination. Committee Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas) did not include Gomez in the announcement.
The FCC has lacked a full complement of commissioners since Jan. 19, 2025. Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel resigned the next day, and Democratic Commissioner Geoffrey Starks and Republican Commissioner Nathan Simington left in June.
