Veteran Atlanta radio and TV personality Christopher “Crash” Clark, recently laid off as morning host at 99X, has been hired to cover traffic at WSB Radio. He starts Monday, Sept. 14.
Ken Charles, WSB director of operations, branding and programming, announced the hire in a staff note Friday that Clark shared on Instagram. “I’m excited to announce that well-known local traffic personality Crash Clark is joining the WSB traffic team,” Charles wrote. “Crash’s knowledge of Atlanta traffic and his long time experience in the market make him a great addition to our award winning traffic team.”
Clark’s Atlanta media career dates to 1989 at then-top 40 Power 99. He stayed after the station flipped to alternative rock as 99X in 1992, playing the party-loving goofball on The Morning X. He also did traffic as “Crash D” on hip-hop station Hot 97.5.
Fired by 99X in 2005 after a radio stunt, he co-hosted in Boston with 99X alums Rich Shertenlieb and Fred Toucher. He later returned to Atlanta for Dave FM and V-103 before becoming 11Alive’s TV traffic reporter in 2014.About 18 months after 99X was revived, Clark joined the new Morning X part time while keeping his full-time 11Alive job. The TV station did not renew his contract at the end of 2025.
Weeks later he received a full-time 99X role that proved short-lived.
