FLOTUS Targets Jimmy Kimmel's 'Hate'

Jimmy Kimmel

First lady Melania Trump on Monday demanded that ABC “take a stand” against late-night host Jimmy Kimmel after he compared her to an “expectant widow” in a monologue spoofing the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, just days before the event was canceled following a shooting at the Washington Hilton.

“Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him,” Trump wrote on X.

“Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand.”

She called Kimmel a “coward” whose “hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country,” adding that his jokes about her family were “corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.”

“People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate,” she wrote. The segment, which aired Thursday on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, featured jokes Kimmel said he would have delivered had he hosted the dinner. He mocked President Donald Trump’s hands and quipped about the first lady: “Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.”

The dinner was later shut down after an alleged gunman opened fire steps away from the venue.

A Disney spokesperson, ABC’s parent company, did not immediately respond.

The controversy comes more than seven months after Disney temporarily pulled Kimmel’s show from the air over jokes following the assassination of Charlie Kirk. That decision drew conservative outrage and threats from then-FCC chairman Brendan Carr. The network later restored the show amid bipartisan criticism, though President Trump threatened to sue ABC.
