Detroit Radio: Trudi Daniels Exits Classic Rock WLLZ

Trudi Daniels

Trudi Daniels, a well-known figure in Detroit radio, has parted ways with WLLZ-FM (106.7) after spending six years at the classic-rock station.

On Tuesday, Daniels took to social media to announce her departure from the iHeartMedia-owned station, where she started hosting on-air in 2019. "It's been a long strange trip the last 6 years," she posted on X. "I'm gonna miss the friends who supported me in the beginning and those who I met a long the way on WLLZ."

Despite leaving WLLZ, Daniels assured fans she'll continue contributing to "The Drew Lane Show" podcast, where she's been a regular alongside Lane, her longtime radio colleague, since 2016. iHeartMedia representatives did not respond to inquiries about her exit.

The Detroit Free Press reports Daniels expressed gratitude to her friends and listeners. "You truly were the best part of these past 6 years," she wrote. "Thanks for Rockin’ with me on Detroits wheels! (Love) you all and will miss you terribly."

Daniels brings decades of experience in Detroit broadcasting, including a 22-year stint at WRIF-FM, where she became a key part of the morning "Drew and Mike Show." She later joined classic rock station WCSX-FM in spring 2013 before landing at 106.7 in 2019. That year, WLLZ flipped to a classic-rock format, bringing back the iconic WLLZ call letters and "Detroit’s Wheels" slogan, with Daniels hosting the midday slot.
