FOX News Channel Continues As Most-Watched Cable Network


During the week of May 6-12, FOX News Channel (FNC) continued to lead all of basic cable with total day viewers for the 18th consecutive week. 

Week over week, FNC saw increases with total day viewers and was flat with primetime viewers, while CNN was down 13% with primetime viewers. In primetime (8-11 PM/ET), FNC earned 2 million viewers and 186,000 A25-54, commanding all of cable news in all categories. In total day (6 AM-6 AM/ET), FNC posted 1.3 million viewers and 147,000 in the 25-54 demo, outpacing all of cable with viewers. Notably, the network posted 79 of the top 100 cable news telecasts for the week. Additionally, FNC led CNN and MSNBC combined with primetime viewership.

  • The Five averaged 3.1 million viewers and 279,000 in the 25-54 demo, making it the most-watched show in cable news. At 6 PM/ET, Special Report with Bret Baier drew 2.1 million viewers and 194,000 in the 25-54 demo. The Ingraham Angle at 7 PM/ET scored 2.1 million viewers and 178,000 in the 25-54 demo. At 8 PM/ET, Jesse Watters Primetime was the most-watched primetime program in cable news, delivering 2.6 million viewers and 221,000 in the 25-54 demo. 
  • At 9 PM/ET, Hannity posted 2.3 million viewers and 209,000 with A25-54. At 11 PM/ET, FOX News @ Night secured 1.2 million viewers and 178,000 in the 25-54 demo.
  • At 10 PM/ET, FNC’s late-night offering Gutfeld! averaged 2,172,000 viewers and 262,000 in the 25-54 demo, making it the most-watched primetime cable news program in the A25-54 demo. Gutfeld! topped all of the broadcast competition with viewers outpacing CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (2,029,000 P2+), ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! (1,535,000 P2+) and NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (1,391,000 P2+).

  • FNC’s daytime lineup continued to surpass broadcast programs during the week. Outnumbered (weekdays, 12 PM/ET; 1,626,000 P2+), America’s Newsroom (weekdays, 9-11 AM/ET; 1,622,000 P2+), America Reports (weekdays, 1-3 PM/ET; 1,543,000 P2+), The Faulkner Focus (weekdays, 11 AM/ET; 1,539,000 P2+) and The Story (weekdays, 3 PM/ET; 1,518,000 P2+) all beat NBC’s Today with Hoda and Jenna (1,349,000 P2+), ABC’s GMA3 (1,275,000 P2+) and CBS’ The Talk (1,189,000 P2+).
  • On Saturday, The Big Weekend Show (weekends, 7 PM/ET) was the top show of the day with 1,639,000 viewers and 164,000 in the 25-54 demo. Life, Liberty & Levin (weekends, 8 PM/ET) was the most-watched show in primetime with 1,429,000 viewers. The FOX Report with Jon Scott (Saturday 6 PM/ET) posted 1.3 million viewers and 117,000 in the 25-54 demo. Cavuto Live (Saturday, 10 AM - 12 PM/ET) saw 1.2 million viewers and 121,000 in the 25-54 demo.
  • On Sunday, Maria Bartiromo’s Sunday Morning Futures (Sunday, 10 AM/ET) was the top show of the weekend with 1,538,000 viewers and 135,000 in the 25-54 demo. In primetime, Life, Liberty & Levin (Sunday, 8 PM/ET) was most-watched with 1,359,000 viewers. MediaBuzz (Sunday, 11 AM/ET) nabbed 1.2 million viewers and 105,000 in the 25-54 demo.
