BIG To Seek Acquiring High Plains Radio Stations

Broadcast Industry Group (BIG) is moving forward with its plans to purchase radio stations previously owned by High Plains Radio Network (HPRN). HPRN recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and BIG aims to acquire the stations once the bankruptcy issues are resolved1. Here are the key details:

Previous Deal: Last July, HPRN had a deal to sell 13 stations and two FM translators in Arkansas and Mississippi to BIG for $3 million. Unfortunately, that sale did not close1.

Additional Deal: In a related transaction, BIG also filed a deal to buy classic hits station “The Mix 103.1” (KKFA-FM) and classic country station KFFA (1360) in Helena, AR from HPRN for $500,000. However, this deal was also dismissed1.

Bankruptcy Protection: HPRN’s legal battle with a national tower company led to their Chapter 11 filing. BIG supports HPRN’s decision to seek bankruptcy protection and plans to proceed with the station purchases once the court resolves the issues.
