Cumulus Media announces that its radio stations 101.5 WBNQ-FM (AC), B104/WBWN-FM (Country), and WJBC-AM (News/Talk) in Bloomington, IL, joined forces to raise $101,705 for children’s cancer treatment and research through the 15th Annual Radiothon for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The two-day fundraising event was held on Thursday, February 9th, and Friday, February 10th between 6:00am and 7:00pm, to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude that no child should die in the dawn of life.
The three popular stations broadcasted live from Cumulus Bloomington studios and on social media through live stream, with special guests, interviews and more to support the kids of St. Jude. All funds raised by the Radiothon will go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will support St. Jude patients and families who never receive a bill from St. Jude for the cost of treatment, travel, housing or food. At St. Jude, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion, or a family’s ability to pay. Since St. Jude opened its doors in 1962, the survival rate for childhood cancer has risen from 20% to more than 80% today.
Dana Bell, Promotions Director and Event Planner, Cumulus Bloomington, said: “Year after year, our listeners and sponsors show an unbelievable amount of support for the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We thank them for their generosity as they join with us to make a difference in the lives of children and families fighting cancer and other life-threatening diseases. There are so many families in our community who directly benefit from what these Partners in Hope do when they donate money, and it’s great to see our community come together for such an important cause.”
