NYC Radio: Sports Battle Is A Blowout For WFAN

Led by its morning team of Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti, WFAN 660 AM / 101.9 FM continues to blow out WEPN 98.7 ESPN New York in Men 25-54, according to the Nielsen Audio ratings.

The NY Post reports that in all day parts during the first month of the three-part fall book, WFAN beat ESPN. FAN starts its day with a huge advantage with “Boomer & Gio” No. 1 in the entire morning among all stations with nearly a 10 percent share from 6-10 a.m.

In what was once a competitive afternoon battle, Craig Carton and Evan Roberts are nearly doubling up “The Michael Kay Show.” Carton & Roberts are third overall in the afternoons with a 6.8 share, while the Kay Show is 12th (3.5 share) from 3-6:30 p.m.

In midafternoons, “Tiki & Tierney,” featuring former Giants great Tiki Barber and longtime New York talker Brandon Tierney, is fourth (5.9), well ahead of ESPN’s combo of Mike Greenberg, along with Bart Scott & Alan Hahn, which combine for 14th (2.5) from 10-2 p.m.

ESPN New York’s “DiPietro & Rothenberg,” despite going up against WFAN’s No. 1 show, are a highlight for the network. Rick DiPietro and Dave Rothenberg squeaked by FAN’s “Warmup Show” of Al Hughes and Jerry Recco, 9.6 to 9.4 (third and fourth respectively) from 5-6 a.m.. From 5-8 a.m., DiPietro and Rothenberg hold their own during their time slot, finishing sixth overall with a 4.6 share.

But still, with Boomer & Gio starting with a sprint, FAN is already out to a big lead in the fall.
