Dave Frisina |
Veteran Central New York personality Dave Frisina has been unceremoniously removed from The Rebel radio streaming service and will no longer be hosting the radio shows “Soulshine” or “Soundcheck,” the longest-running local music broadcast in the world, according to CNYCentral.com citing a statement shared on Facebook.
Frisina says The Rebel, owned by Cumulus Media, informed him during the final hour of his Monday show that the station would be “going through a transition” and his position had been eliminated.
“I spent yesterday trying in vain to negotiate a way that I could remain in the limited capacity of just hosting Soulshine and Soundcheck on Sundays,” said Frisina. “I was flatly rejected.”
Frisina has worked in radio at WAQX and WTKW and streaming for over 45 years and is a founding member of The Rebel, which began as WXTL in 2012 before transitioning to an online streaming service.
