Richmond Radio: Audacy Stations Raise $670K+ For Children's Hospital

Audacy raised over $670,000 to benefit Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR) during the annual “36-Hours for Kids Radiothon” in Richmond, VA. Now in its 10th year, this annual radiothon has raised over $2 million with support from Audacy radio stations Big 98.5 (WRXL-HD2), Newsradio WRVA (WRVA-AM/WTVR-HD2), Q94 (WRVQ-FM), Mix 98.1 (WTVR-FM) and 106.5 The Beat (WBTJ-FM).

“For the past ten years, the ‘36 Hours for Kids Radiothon’ has helped to raise money to support CHoR and the families and children they serve in the Richmond community,” said Bennett Zier, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy Virginia. “It’s truly a special experience to bring our friends and our generous neighbors together for the children.”

As part of the radiothon, Mix 98.1 hosts Wicker & Wilde, Kat Simons and Zach broadcast live from the Mix 98.1 studios on December 1 and 2, raising critical dollars for the region’s Children’s Hospital through sharing amazing stories of hope and healing by area families who have received care and support at CHoR.

This year, the 36-Hours for Kids Radiothon initially raised more than $335,000 through pledges, cash, sponsorships and sustained giving. Funds were matched and tripled in some hours to reach the final total and will be directed to support the construction of the Wonder Tower, CHoR’s new home for inpatient and emergency care.
