Orlando Radio: Market Vet Named New Morning Host At WUCF

Bob Kelly
WUCF FM
in Orlando today announced that long-time radio veteran Bob Kelley has been selected to take over as host of Morning Jazz on 89.9 Jazz & More. WUCF FM 89.9 Jazz and More is considered a leader in jazz and broadcasts a 24-hour schedule of jazz music and other non-commercial programming over the air and online.

“We are thrilled to have Bob Kelley as our new weekday morning host at 89.9 Jazz & More,” said Kayonne Riley, director of radio at WUCF. “Bob brings a wealth of experience as a radio personality, he’s well-known in our community, and he’s also a big fan of jazz music. Bob is so knowledgeable about the artists, and the history of jazz - and this love shines through when he’s talking to the music makers and jazz artists of today. His professionalism and enthusiasm for jazz music and its rich heritage makes Bob the perfect person to start our days with, and we’re so happy that he’s here with us at WUCF 89.9!”

Kelley’s background and dedication to radio, and in particular jazz radio, started in 1978 when he went to work for WLOQ 103.1 in Orlando as the morning show host. In 1987 through 1989, Kelley was asked to cover the world-famous Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

In 1992, Kelley worked as music director and afternoon drive host at Magic 107.7. After a short break from radio, Kelley returned to WLOQ in 2005 as a part-time fill-in host. He joined 89.9 Jazz and More as in 2015 to fill in and serve as Saturday Jazz host and was named Midday Jazz host in 2019.

“I am honored to be selected as host of Morning Jazz, as it has been a part of my life for more than 40 years,” said Kelley. “Jazz has grown and changed yet continue to be a celebration of spirit showing a freedom of feeling and ideas and become more global with all corners of the world being represented. After all these years I can surely say I never stop learning.... nor want to.”

Kelley takes over for long-time Morning Jazz host Marc Taylor who moved in October to Florida’s west coast.

Morning Jazz airs weekdays from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Kelley also hosts Saturday Jazz from noon until 4 p.m.
