NEPA Radio: Alice Cooper Headlines WEZX 40th Anniversary Show

WEZX Rock 107 Scrsanton/Wilkes-Barre PA is ready to celebrate its milestone birthday with none other than the Godfather of Shock Rock.

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper’s syndicated radio show “Nights With Alice Cooper” will air weeknights from 7 p.m. to midnight on Rock 107, the Times-Shamrock Communications radio station announced Tuesday.

To celebrate the partnership, Rock 107 also announced Cooper will headline the radio station’s 40th anniversary concert along with Tesla and Lita Ford on June 17, reports The Citizens Voice.

“I am super pumped. I have been a giant Alice Cooper fan for as long as I can remember,” said radio station promotions director Mark Hoover.

Cooper and Tesla typically sell out when they come to town, he said, and Ford played to a packed room at the annual Rock 107 Birthday Bash a few years ago. The 40th anniversary show is separate from the Birthday Bash, which takes place each April, Hoover added.

Tickets start at $49.75 and go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday.  A pre-sale takes place Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. There also will be 107 tickets available for $40 for listeners who use code “WEZX40.”

During the radio show, Cooper — who pioneered a genre of music and stage shows that mixed influences from theater, vaudeville and horror films into rock ‘n’ roll — will play requests, his favorite songs and even rare tracks from artists across the rock genre. He also answers listener questions and talks with celebrities including past guests Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Zombie, Meat Loaf, Joe Perry and more.
